Khajjiar

Just 27 km from Dalhousie, the beautiful little plain of Khajjiar is one of the favourite retreats for visitors. The saucer-shaped meadow, ringed by pines, has a lake set in the middle, complete with a floating island. A little golden-spired temple and a picturesque golf course complete this pretty picture.

Panjpulla

The 'five bridges' memorial was built in memory of Ajit Singh, one of India's well-loved freedom fighters. A natural tank and streams give the spot a fitting serenity.

Satdhara

On the way to Panjpulla, seven of Dalhousie's many springs are clustered together at Satdhara. The sparkling waters are rich in mica and minerals, and are reputed to have great therapeutic value.

Subhash Baoli

1.6 km. from the town square, this natural spring commands a fine view of the snow-capped ranges of the Himalayas.

Dainkund

Just 10 km. outside the town, on a clear day, the peak of Dainkund offers a splendid view of the hills, with the rivers Ravi, Beas, and Chenab threading through the distance.

Jandhri Ghat

A short walk from the Baoli, Jandhri Ghat enfolds an elegant palace within a stately colonnade of pines. Chamba's erstwhile rulers governed from here till the advent of Lord Dalhousie. .

Kalatope

8.5 km from Dalhousie, Kalatope is an ideal weekend retreat. With a panoramic view, an enchanting palace, and a forest rest-house, it makes for a pleasant getaway.

Getting There

By Air

The nearest airport is at Gaggal (Kangra) 180 km from Chamba and 140 km from Dalhousie. Vayudoot operates its flights on the Delhi - Dharamsala sector.

By Rail

Chamba town is 122 km from Pathankot, the nearest broad gauge rail head which is linked by direct trains to Amritsar, Delhi, Bombay and Calcutta.

By Road

Bharmaur is 65 km from Chamba. By road Dalhousie is 80 km from Pathankot. Both Dalhousie and Chamba are well connected with places in and outside the state.
